How to Proceed With a Business Purchase

1
Step

Please read the sales details of the business that you are interested in. You can browse our businesses by clicking "All Businesses for Sale" or choose any other category as provided above.

2
Step

Due to the confidential nature of the businesses for sales, we need you to sign a Confidentiality Agreement for each business you are enquiring about in order to receive more information on that business.

A link to the Confidentiality Agreement is at the top right hand side of the Sales Details page and it can be completed on-line.

Alternatively our Confidentiality Agreement can be printed, completed, signed and scanned or posted to us.

If you are acting on behalf of a client we need your client to sign our Confidentiality Agreement as well as yourself.

3
Step

Once your Confidentiality Agreement is received, the Account Manager for the business you have enquired about, will contact you with further information.

Before You Buy a Business

Most people buying a business are doing it for the first time. These guides cover the decisions that come before you enquire about a listing.

Why buy rather than start from scratch

Start-ups mostly fail because they run out of money before they break even. An established business comes with proven cashflow and a working model from day one. There is still risk, but you are not burning capital while you wait to break even.

The Benefits of Buying a Business

Working out what to buy

Start with the adverts and rule out the sectors that do not interest you. Then be honest about your own skills and experience. If you are not an engineer, an engineering business is a hard place to begin, and a lender will ask the same question before they back you.

How to Find the Right Business for You

What owning it is actually like

Cashflow decides whether a business survives, not profit. Twelve month forecasts, reviewed often, are what keep a new owner out of trouble. Expect the first year to be demanding.

What to Expect When Buying a Business

Why use a broker at all

Business broking is not a regulated profession and plenty of brokers are not good at it. This article is candid about that, and about what a broker who knows the job actually does for a buyer.

The Advantages of Buying a Business through a Business Broker

After you agree a price

Agreeing a price is where the work starts, not where it finishes. You will need a lawyer with real corporate finance experience, an accountant who has handled a sale before, and Heads of Terms that record what was actually agreed.
